HONOURS: Member of executive of Avon Football Association for 21 consecutive years; Life member AFA; awarded Australian Football Council merit award 1973; president WA Country Football League for 18 years; foundation director WA Football Development Trust; Advance Australia Award for Contribution to sport 1987; life member WACFL, WAFL; Sportsmen’s Association of Australia May Campbell Award for outstanding service to sport in WA 1990; Order of Australia Medal for outstanding contribution to sport in WA 1993.

A 58 year involvement as a player, umpire and administrator, he also represented WA in Sheffield Shield Cricket;  Captained the state schoolboy’s football team as a 16 year old, played in Claremont’s league football premiership team.  After World War II, played a season with Melbourne including the 1946 grand final.
