In the Sandover Medal.  Based in Melbourne, he played two games for Carlton while on leave and the Blues fought for his services after the war.

Henfry was transferred to Melbourne by his employer but the WAFL refused to clear him and he sat out of the football for a year in 1946.  He returned to WA in 1953 and was captain-coach of his old club before hanging up the boots in 1954.  The following year he coached Perth to its first flat in 48 years.
