A true champion whose reputation as a classy centreman on the Goldfields preceded his arrival at East Fremantle in 1913. William Truscott had played 100 games for Mines rovers and twice earned selection in WA carnival teams before his career flourished at Old Easts where he was rated the finest centre man of his era. He captained the club for seven years. He was picked in the 1914, 1921 and 1924 carnival teams. Also excelled at cricket, winning selection as a wicket keeper in a WA side and was also a handy leg-spin bowler. In the 1950’s he won an Australian pairs title in lawn bowls.
