HONOURS: Umpried the first game in the VFL/AFL in 1897
When the game was taking root across the country, Ivo Crapp was universally acclaimed as the “prince of umpires”. In 1897 he moved from the VFA to the newly formed VLF, where he umpired 17 finals and seven grand finals. He umpired every WAFL grand final from 1906 to 1914, including 10 grand finals. Was recalled from retirement to umpire the state game at the 1921 carnival when WA beat Victoria for the first time.
