Arguably the best centre-half forward to play in WA prior to World War 2, Hebbard was renowned for his football intelligence, excellent marking and superb foot passing. He began a long career on the Goldfields in 1911 before being a crucial addition to the powerful East Perth teams of the early 1920’s. He represented WA in the 1914 and 1924 national carnivals and was hugely respected as captain in the latter. He was later league coach of South Fremantle.
