Won two WAFL premierships as a half-back flanker before turning into quite a remarkable full- forward. At the Australian carnival in Hobart in 1924, Bonny Campbell booted 51 goals in five matches, including a record 23 goals in the game against Queensland. In 1928, he kicked 13 goals against Perth. Campbell started as a defender at South Fremantle but after three seasons convinced the club to try him at full forward and he led the WAFL goal-kicking in 1922. In 1923, South refused a clearance to East Perth on the grounds that its needs were greater than the Royals, which had won four premierships in succession. Campbell stood out for a year and wn the WAFL goal-kicking as an East Perth player in 1924. In 1926 he kicked 89 goals, including finals, to create an Australian record. Collingwood champion Gordon Coventry beat it the following year with 97.
